On Monday, 10 January 2025, the Ministry of Environment/Environmental Control Agency of Republic of Indonesia (KLH/BPLH), the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) officially launched the First International Trading of Indonesian Carbon Units through the Indonesian Carbon Exchange (IDXCarbon) at the IDX Main Hall. This inauguration marks a significant milestone in Indonesia’s carbon trading journey.
The First International Trading of Indonesian Carbon Units was inaugurated by Minister of Environment Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni, Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners Mahendra Siregar, Chief Executive of OJK for Capital Market, Derivative Finance, and Carbon Exchange Supervision Inarno Djajadi, Deputy Minister of Environment Diaz Hendropriyono, Head of the Fiscal Policy Agency of the Ministry of Finance Febrio Kacaribu, and President Director of IDX, as the organizer of IDXCarbon, Iman Rachman.
This event reflects Indonesia’s commitment post-COP 29 and demonstrates the implementation of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. It also signifies a step forward in strengthening efforts to accelerate the submission of the second Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) by 10 February 2025.
